Story

            So, here's the story of how God gave us the "Think on these things" topic to do a project on.  We, my husband and I and his sister, Kathy, have been struggling with thinking on bad things.  We've been critical, condemning, thinking about depressing stuff.  We've had our minds on this world, we've been self-righteous and frustrated with the state of this world. 

            We prayed about it, and grew some, but still we struggled.  Then as we were praying about what our next project should be the verse from Philippians 4 popped into Steve's head.  I thought, yea, that's a good topic, but didn't have any real leading from God.  I just thought "it'll do".  

            While we were at cornerstone, we talked about it some more and told some of our new friends that we were planning on making it our next project.  We still didn't have a definite "Yes, do this" from God. 

            Driving home (to Florida) we stopped at a grocery store in some obscure town 'cause we HAD to find out where the nearest Baskin Robbins was.  You know how that is when you're on a long road trip.  So we looked it up in the phone book, didn't find anything close, and decided to make it a bathroom break as well.  (for those of you who don't know, cornerstone is in Bushnell, Ill).   Anyways, while I was in there I read one of the three tracts that were placed on the back of the toilet.  It was about spending more time with your family and less with your TV.  Not terribly impressive, since Steve and I don't have time to watch TV anyways!  But then, I turned it over and read the verses on the back.  And this is what I got:

 

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things.  Philippians 4:8

           

            Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

  Thessalonians 5:11

 

I took that as the "there's no such thing as coincidence" very big "Yes, do that!" from God.  I showed Steve and Kathy, and those two guys who were our groupies at cornerstone (Jason and Mike), and everyone agreed that that was very cool.  So here it is.  Think on these things.  May God be pleased!
